Ceramic Bearing Failure in THA

Bearing Surfaces

A 48-year-old active man presents 6 years after primary ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty with sudden onset severe hip pain and audible "squeaking" followed by a loud crack during strenuous activity. He now has marked pain with any movement. Examination reveals painful, restricted range of motion.
