Total Hip Arthroplasty Indications - Patient Selection and Timing

THA Indications

A 58-year-old accountant presents with 3 years of progressive right hip pain. The pain is worse with activity and relieved by rest. He takes regular paracetamol and occasionally uses NSAIDs. He has a body mass index of 28 kg/m2 and well-controlled type 2 diabetes. Radiographs show Kellgren-Lawrence grade 3 osteoarthritis with joint space narrowing, osteophytes, and subchondral sclerosis.
