Forefoot Conditions
A 55-year-old woman presents with painful prominence over her right first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP1) that has progressively worsened over 5 years. She has difficulty wearing shoes and notes her great toe is drifting toward the second toe. Weight-bearing radiographs show a hallux valgus angle (HVA) of 35 degrees and an intermetatarsal angle (IMA) of 16 degrees. The first MTP joint shows mild degenerative changes but is mobile.
