Soft Tissue Injuries
A 28-year-old basketball player presents with chronic lateral ankle pain and a sensation of "snapping" behind the lateral malleolus during push-off. He recalls a severe ankle sprain 6 months ago. On examination, there is tenderness along the peroneal tendons, and circumduction of the ankle reproduces the snapping with visible subluxation of the tendons over the lateral malleolus.
