Sagittal Band Rupture

Tendon Injuries

A 28-year-old right-hand dominant man presents after punching a wall. He has pain and swelling over the dorsum of the right hand at the MCP joint of the middle finger. With active extension, the extensor tendon subluxates ulnarly off the metacarpal head. He cannot actively extend the MCP joint from a flexed position but can maintain extension once positioned.
