Apophysitis
A 13-year-old boy who plays basketball presents with anterior knee pain localized to the tibial tubercle. The pain is worse with running, jumping, and kneeling. Examination reveals a prominent, tender tibial tubercle with pain on resisted knee extension. Radiographs show fragmentation and soft tissue swelling at the tibial tubercle apophysis.
