Hamstring Injury Classification

Muscle Injuries

A 24-year-old sprinter presents with acute posterior thigh pain that occurred during a race start. He felt a sudden "pop" and was unable to continue. On examination, there is tenderness at the ischial tuberosity with palpable defect, significant bruising extending to the popliteal fossa, and weakness of knee flexion.
