Meniscal Pathology
A 52-year-old woman presents with acute onset of medial knee pain after squatting down to pick up groceries. She felt a "pop" and now has difficulty weight-bearing. Examination reveals a large effusion, medial joint line tenderness, and pain with deep flexion. MRI shows a complete tear of the posterior horn medial meniscus root with extrusion of the meniscus body greater than 3mm. Weight-bearing radiographs show early medial compartment narrowing.
