Meniscus Tears - Vascularity Zones, Repair vs Resection and Root Tears

Knee Sports Injuries

A 24-year-old soccer player presents with a locked knee after a twisting injury during a game. MRI shows a bucket-handle tear of the medial meniscus with the displaced fragment flipped into the intercondylar notch. The tear extends from the posterior horn anteriorly and appears to be in the peripheral 3mm of the meniscus. The ACL is intact.
