Shoulder Disorders
A 28-year-old competitive baseball pitcher presents with 6 months of deep shoulder pain and decreased throwing velocity. He describes a "dead arm" sensation when throwing and occasional catching or clicking in the shoulder. Pain is worse in the late cocking phase of throwing. Examination reveals pain with O'Brien test, Speed test, and Yergason test. His shoulder has excessive external rotation in abduction.
