Snapping Hip Syndrome

Hip Conditions

A 22-year-old female dancer presents with an audible and palpable snapping sensation in her right hip. The snapping occurs when she brings her leg from a flexed, abducted position into extension and adduction. She can reproduce the snapping at will. The snapping is located anteriorly and is becoming painful, interfering with her dance training. Examination reveals a visible and palpable snap over the anterior hip with the described maneuver.
