Ankle Fracture Classification and Management

Lower Limb Fractures

A 45-year-old woman twists her ankle while stepping off a curb. She presents with a swollen, painful ankle. Radiographs show a fibula fracture at the level of the syndesmosis, a transverse medial malleolar fracture, and widening of the medial clear space on the mortise view.
