Calcaneal Fracture Management

Hindfoot Trauma

A 42-year-old construction worker falls 4 metres from scaffolding, landing on his heels. He presents with bilateral hindfoot pain and swelling. Radiographs show bilateral calcaneal fractures with a Bohler angle of 10 degrees on the right (normal 25-40 degrees). CT shows a Sanders Type IIB fracture on the right with a single fracture line through the posterior facet. The left is Sanders Type IV. He is otherwise uninjured.
