Maisonneuve Fractures

Ankle Injuries

A 35-year-old man presents after twisting his right ankle during a football match. He describes an external rotation mechanism. Examination reveals medial ankle tenderness with swelling, but no lateral ankle tenderness. However, there is pain on palpation of the proximal fibula.
