Periprosthetic Fractures
A 78-year-old woman presents after a fall at home with inability to bear weight on her left leg. She had a cemented total hip arthroplasty 8 years ago. Radiographs show a spiral fracture around the tip of the femoral stem with the fracture extending distally. The stem appears well-fixed on radiographs with no evidence of loosening.
