Benign Bone Tumors
A 14-year-old girl presents with 4 months of progressive pain and swelling in her proximal tibia. Radiographs show an eccentric, expansile, lytic lesion with a "soap bubble" appearance and a thin periosteal shell. MRI demonstrates multiple fluid-fluid levels within the lesion. The lesion extends to within 1cm of the physis. Biopsy confirms blood-filled spaces separated by fibrous septa containing osteoclast-type giant cells without atypical mitoses.
