Elbow Arthritis
A 58-year-old right-hand-dominant retired carpenter presents with progressive right elbow pain and stiffness over 5 years. He has no history of trauma or inflammatory arthritis. Examination reveals a flexion arc of 40-100 degrees (loss of 30 degrees extension and 40 degrees flexion) with crepitus. He has good muscle strength and stable ligaments. Radiographs show osteophytes at the coronoid, olecranon, and olecranon fossa with joint space narrowing but preserved lateral joint surface. Regarding primary osteoarthritis of the elbow:
