đŦWhat Causes It?
- Forceful gripping while the finger is being pulled straight (e.g., grabbing someone's jersey in rugby or football)
- Trying to grab a ball or opponent's clothing during sports
- Rock climbing accidents where the finger is forcefully extended while gripping
- Industrial accidents involving machinery
- Any forceful hyperextension of the finger while gripping

You may be at higher risk if:
- Participation in contact sports (rugby, American football, Australian rules football)
- Rock climbing or similar grip-intensive activities
- Manual labor requiring strong grip
- Male gender (much more common in men)
- Ring finger most commonly affected (75% of cases)
- Young, active individuals (ages 20-40)
